About the Department
Educational Goals
Clothing is an interdisciplinary field that includes fashion design, clothing construction, fashion marketing, history of costume and culture, clothing material science, and fashion technology.
- We provide demand-centered, industry-academia-friendly education, including various apparel practicum sessions and effective capstone design courses.
- We have a support system to help students achieve excellent results in fashion illustration exhibitions, graduation fashion shows, fashion design competitions, and national competitions to foster creative talents.
- We enhance students' practical skills and employability through various programs such as industry-academia-university meetings, on-the-job training, alumni mentoring, and employment support events.
Major Course Guide
Fashion Marketing and Business Models
This course teaches the main concepts of marketing in relation to the fashion industry. Students will learn the current status of the fashion industry, STP strategies of fashion brands, fashion products, fashion pricing, fashion distribution, and fashion communication.
CAD Fashion Design
This course teaches students how to operate and utilize fashion-specific computer programs such as Adobe Illustrator and TexPro CAD. Students will develop the ability to effectively plan and design fashion products.
CAD Patternmaking
Students will learn how to use CAD pattern making programs to create, grade, and mark patterns, as well as pattern input and output techniques. Students will also learn how to use the CLO Virtual Garment program to create 3D virtual garments.
Textile Science
This course comprehensively explores the physical, chemical, and mechanical properties of textile materials, covering raw materials, manufacturing processes, mechanical properties, and chemical treatments. Students delve into aspects like tensile strength, elasticity, durability, and color stability of textiles, as well as emerging technologies and environmental impacts.
Co-operative education
This course is a course that allows apparel majors to earn credits toward their major by experiencing on-the-job training through internships for 8 or 16 weeks at companies that have signed internship agreements in consideration of their aptitudes and careers.
