의류학과

남성의 체형에 맞는 남성복 아이템 별 패턴 메이킹 및 의복구성, 여성의 체형에 맞는 여성복  패턴메이킹 및 의복구성, 특히 핏감과 구성방법이 섬세한 여성의 드레스용 브래지어와 뷔스티에 개발에 대한 연구를 주로 하고 있다. 아울러 CAD 패턴 메이킹으로 연구 분야 확장을 하고있다.
현재 더커브랩에 디자인 팀장으로 재직중이며 오케스트라 및 합창단, 연주자의 드레스와 무대의상 디자인과 패턴 제작 업무를 담당하고 있다. 
전국장애인기능경기대회 양복분야의 심사위원과 한국산업인력공단의 여성복기능사, 남성복기능사,  패션디자인산업기사, 의류기사의 감독위원으로 활동중이다.
주요 수업 과목으로 여성복제작실습, 남성복제작실습, 어패럴 CAD패턴 메이킹, 드레스 메이킹,  졸업 컬렉션 캡스톤 디자인이 있다.

중국 칭화대학교 미술대학에 수석 입학하여 패션디자인을 전공하고, 홍콩이공대학교에서 패션 & 텍스타일 디자인 석사학위를 취득한 후, 서울대학교에서 의류학 박사학위를 취득하였다. 글로벌 패션 무역 회사 Li & Fung에서 머천다이저로, Stephane Christian 아이웨어 브랜드에서 디자이너로 활동하며 실무 경험을 쌓았고, CJ ENM 나른 소재과학연구소에서 자문위원을 역임했다. 현재 국내 디자인 연구소에서 디자인 컨설팅 및 전시 기획 업무를 맡고 있으며, 한국연구재단 교육부 연구과제 ‘혁신적 소재를 사용한 자동 형태 변형 패브릭 연구’(RS-2023-00245538)에 참여하여 디지털 패션 및 AI 기반 디자인 연구를 통해 미래 패션 산업의 변화에 대응하는 새로운 디자인 방법론을 개발하고 있다. 또한, ICCT Best Oral Presentation Award(2024)를 수상하였으며, 해외에서 총 6차례의 패션쇼와 10차례의 전시에 참여하는 등 학술 및 산업 현장에서 활발한 활동을 이어가고 있다.

After earning a Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design from the Academy of Arts & Design at Tsinghua University, a Master’s degree in Fashion & Textile Design from the School of Fashion and Textiles at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and a Ph.D. in Fashion and Textiles from Seoul National University, Chahong Chung has developed extensive expertise in fashion and textile design. Her professional experience includes working as a merchandiser at the global fashion trading company Li & Fung and as a designer for the eyewear brand Stephane Christian. She has also served as a consultant at CJ ENM’s Nareun Textile Science Research Lab. Currently, she is engaged in design consulting and exhibition planning at a domestic design research institute while contributing to the Korea Research Foundation’s Ministry of Education project: “Research on Self-Deformable and Shape-Changing (SDSC) Fabrics Using Innovative Materials” (RS-2023-00245538). Her research explores new design methodologies in digital fashion and AI-driven design, addressing the evolving needs of the fashion industry. Recognized for her contributions to the field, she received the ICCT Best Oral Presentation Award (2024) and has actively participated in international fashion shows and exhibitions, demonstrating a strong presence in both academic and industry sectors.
